Teresa Giudice, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star who was convicted on fraud charges last year, has been released from prison.

Teresa Giudice Released

Giudice was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., in the early hours of Wednesday morning. She had spent just under a year in prison after getting sentenced to 15 months. Upon her release, she was transported in a black SUV to the New Jersey home she shares with her husband Joe Giudice and their daughters Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana.

“She is thrilled that she is finally going home,” a source told magazine. “Teresa was smiling when she emerged. She was wearing all black and looked happy. Prison was tough for her, but she made the best of it.”

“Joe was waiting for her in the driveway smiling, he looked like he was anxiously anticipating her arrival,” the source added.

In October 2014, Giudice was found guilty on tax fraud charges and was consequently sentenced to 15 months behind bars despite her lawyer’s pleas to take jail off the table. In the same trial, Joe Giudice was sentenced to 41 months in prison and had to immediately pay up $414,588, reported The Star-Ledger. His first two years out of prison upon his released will be supervised. It’s possible that upon his release, Joe, an Italian citizen, could be deported.
