Stephen Collins, the 7th Heaven star who has recently been exposed allegedly admitting to child molestation, was reported to have committed suicide on Tuesday. Police, however, have refuted the claims.

Stephen Collins Didn't Commit Suicide

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot at Collins' Tarzana, Calif., home. Among those reportedly spreading the report of Collins’ alleged suicide was former Baywatch star Donna D’Errico, who is one of Collins’ neighbors.

"That guy from 7th Heaven lives right around the corner from me & just shot himself a few minutes ago,” D’Errico wrote before deleting the tweet, reported USA Today.

After the LAPD arrived and contained the area, they went inside Collins' house to find no one home. The sound that was heard, allegedly came from media trucks.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, recordings featuring Collins admitting to sexually abusing three young girls were leaked online by TMZ, who obtained the audio. The recording, made secretly by Collins estranged wife Faye Grant in 2012, include Collins talking about two underage girls in New York and one in California with whom he engaged in inappropriate and illicit sexual misconduct.

Grant claims that she had nothing to do with the audio leak. "I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press," she told E! News. "I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media."

Collins, who has been fired from Ted 2 and has resigned from the Screen Actor's Guild national board, has not yet made a statement about the recordings.
