Stacey Dash, actress and new Fox News correspondent, slammed Kanye West, saying he should “go to Rikers” to “know what rape is,” after the rapper compared the paparazzi to rape at a recent London concert.

Kanye West Compares Paparazzi To Rape

During West’s headlining set at the Wireless festival in London, West went on a 20-minute rant where he reportedly complained about being followed around by the paparazzi, likening their constant presence to rape.

“I want to bring my family to the movies without 30 motherf—kers following me. Everybody here, they like sex right? Sex is great when you and your partner are like, ‘Hey, this is what we both want to do.’ But if one of those people don’t want to do that, what is that called? That’s called rape. That is called violation…I need cut-off space, not violation,” West told the crowd.

West continued, bringing up the issue of his one-year-old daughter’s privacy. Dash, however, was not moved by West, and loudly expressed her disapproval during an appearance on Fox News’ Outnumbered.

“For Kanye to say ‘rape,’ maybe he needs to spend some time on Rikers Island. Go to Rikers for a little while and then he’ll know what rape is,” Dash stated, mentioning the New York State prison.

Dash refused to cut West, or other celebrities who have made similar comments, any slack, defending the paparazzi as simply people doing a job.

“I don’t get celebrities not understanding that the paparazzi are doing their job,” Dash said.

Dash’s comment quickly made the rounds, and critics and supporters were quick to call out the celebrity on Twitter. Dash, who is very active on social media, has been re-tweeting both negative and positive reactions to her statement and has stood by her words.

This isn’t the first time a celebrity has likened paparazzi to rape. In June, Charlize Theron said that she felt “raped” by the invasion of her privacy done in the name of celebrity, when it comes to her private life and her son. At the time, RAINN – Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network – released a statement criticizing Theron’s choice of words.

“We wish Charlize Theron had used a more appropriate metaphor to describe the experience of being a celebrity in the era of digital media…The horror of being raped should never be compared to the ‘unpleasantness’ someone could experience by Googling themselves,” said RAINN spokesperson Katherine Hull Fliflet.

West has not responded to Dash's comments.
