Hope Solo, the Olympic gold medaling American soccer goalkeeper, has been arrested on a pair of domestic violence charges.

Hope Solo Arrested

Since her arrest, Solo has been held at the South Correctional Entity Regional Jail in Des Moines, Wash., without bail. Police are investigating the incident, which occurred overnight at her Kirkland, Wash., home. The athlete is said to have hit both her sister and nephew, who suffered "visible injuries," Kirkland police Lt. Mike Murray told The Seattle Times.

"There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out-of-control situation," Murray said. During the party, officers were called the home that Solo lives in with her husband Jerramy Stevens, who played tight end in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring in 2010.

Stevens was arrested for allegedly assaulting Solo back in 2012 a day before their wedding. Due to insufficient evidence, the former NFL player was never formally charged.

Solo's Soccer Career

Solo, one of the most recognizable faces in U.S. women’s soccer, has made over 150 appearances for the U.S. women’s national team. She currently plays club with the NWSL’s Seattle Reign. With her in goal, the national team has earned a pair of Olympic titles and finished in second at the 2011 Women’s World Cup.

"We are aware of the situation," U.S. Soccer said in a statement. "At this point, we don't have any further comments."

Solo has also parlayed her soccer skills into broader notoriety, appearing on Dancing With the Stars and landing in the pages of ESPN’s 2011 The Body Issue.
