Snooki Taken Into Custody After Car Crash

Florence, Italy and the cast of Jersey Shore have had some uncomfortable moments since the show started filming Season 4 on location in the Renaissance City, but a recent scrape with law landed Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 23, in police custody and put the usual harmless antics that always follow the cast in perspective.

Snooki, accompanied by castmate Deena Nicole Cortese and members of the show's production crew, crashed her Fiat Multipla into a patrol car in Florence Monday evening. She was given a breathalyzer test on the spot to detect alcohol, which was negative, but was not tested for drug use until she was taken into police custody and questioned at Florence's central police station, where it was discovered she did not have documentation on her, reports the UK's Daily Mail.

Both of the officers involved in the crash, a man and a woman, were injured in the impact and subsequently treated at a nearby emergency room. Though it's unlikely that Snooki will face criminal charges, both of the injured parties have 90 days to decided if they will take civil action against the reality show diva. "It was nothing serious and [the officers] have been released," said Mario Rondinelli, a spokesperson for Florence police. "But they will not be back to work for a week. The Italian law states that if a person is injured in an accident, then the other person deemed to have caused the accident loses their license."

Consequently, Snooki's license has been revoked for a minimum of 15 days, though the length of time can be extended if the police chief deems it appropriate. Snooki is in good company with the rest of her Jersey Shore cast. Prior to this latest accident, they have collectively racked up over 300 euro worth of traffic violations since arriving in Italy three weeks ago.
