Shia LaBeouf is back and he has a strange new look: the braided rattail.

LaBeouf raised eyebrows over the weekend after he was spotted wandering around Los Angeles with a noticeably different hairdo. The troubled actor was most recently seen starring in Sia’s music video for “Elastic Heart,” rocking short hair and a beard.

LaBeouf appears to have shaved the sides of his head, creating a sort of Mohawk effect, and completed the new look with a decently sized braided rattail.

LaBeouf hasn’t been spotted recently with long hair, nor did he appear to have the beginnings of a rattail a few months ago, causing many to question the new do. Is it extensions? And, if so, what’s up with the new look? Fans were only more confused by LaBeouf’s new eyebrow piercing, which he also debuted over the weekend.

LaBeouf currently does not have any projects in production listed on IMDB, so it’s unclear whether or not the new look could be for an upcoming role. The actor will star in October’s Man Down.
