The Seattle Seahawks fans who attended the NFL team’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New Orleans Saints broke the league's noise record.

Seattle Seahawks Fans Break Noise Record

At Century Link Field on Monday evening, those in attendance at the Seahawks game set the latest Guinness World Record for fan volume with an impressive 137.6 decibels, reported CBS News. With 68,387 people in the crowd in the domed stadium, the record was made in the game’s second quarter. The noise was so loud that it triggered the seismic activity of a small earthquake.

Seahawks’ fans last record-breaking cheer was on March 18, 2011 when they hit 136.6. Up until Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs had held the record at 137.5.

Seattle Seahawks' 12th Man Triggers Seismic Activity

The Seattle Seahawks franchise has long been known to have the loudest fans in the National Football League and have even been dubbed the squad’s 12th Man. To honor the fans, the Seahawks retired the jersey number 12 back on Dec. 15, 1984.

In addition to the record-breaking noise making at Century Link Field, the Seattle Seahawks also saw their season record improve to an NFL best 11-1. They trounced the typically high-scoring New Orleans Saints 34-7.
