Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin led the Saturday Night Live tribute for Tracy Morgan during the live sketch show’s 40th anniversary special Sunday night.

Tracy Morgan Honored

Fey and Baldwin, who starred alongside Morgan on 30 Rock, said that the comedian, who suffered a brain injury in a car accident that took the life of one of his longtime friends last summer, was unfortunately not feeling well enough to attend the celebratory event.

“I wish my friend Tracy Morgan was here tonight. I know he was hoping he would be well enough to be here too,” Fey said.

Baldwin chimed in, “Tracy would have been the first to accurately express how thrilled we all are to be apart of television history,” before doing his best Morgan impression.

“If he were here tonight I am sure Tracy would remind us that more than anything, he would like to get us all pregnant,” said Fey before the former costars added in unison, “See you at the 41st, Tracy. We love you.”

Morgan had been on the road for a comedy tour last June when a Wal-Mart truck crashed into the limo van he was traveling in with his entourage. Morgan was critically injured in the accident, suffering a traumatic brain injury, a broken leg and broken ribs.

After visiting with her fellow Saturday Night Live alum over the holidays, Fey was optimistic that Morgan’s condition will eventually improve.

“He’s doing good,” she told E! News. “He’s got a long road ahead of him, but he’s going to get there.”
