RECAP: 'Glee' Welcomes The Magical Damian McGinty

Now that those pesky baseball games are out of the way, Glee returned to Tuesday night Fox with a charming new cast member — Glee Project winner Damian McGinty. Appearing as foreign exchange student Rory Flanagan, a kid so Irish that he wears green all the time, sings about it ("Bein' Green") and leads the air-headed Brittany to believe he's a leprechaun, until Finn (Cory Monteith) bursts her bubble with a caustic "you're an idiot!"

There was plenty of discord among the kids of New Directions when the episode opened, the first after the shocking departure of Mercedes in favor of Shelby's (Idina Menzel) rival singing group, called the Troubletones. With the help of the leprechaun delusion, Mercedes succeeded in dragging Santana and Brittany over to the dark side, which means the Troubletones is shaping up to be Gleeks' dream team of soul — and New Directions' worst nightmare.

Meanwhile, the crusade Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) has launched against arts funding for schools met a big, tough foe: Burt Hummel. Standing up against Sue's diabolical bid for office, he decided to compete against her as a write-in candidate, and proved strikingly more effective than Will Shuester at keeping the school musical alive.

Quinn is still trying to get her baby back. Puck kissed Shelby. Finn's being a meanie-head to everyone, even Blaine. Rory switched to red and joined the club. Santana and Brittany are dating. And that's what you missed on Glee.
