Calvin Klein announced today that Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons will become the company’s new chief creative officer.

The announcement comes after months of speculation that Simons would soon join the iconic brand. According to the company’s Instagram post, Simons will “oversee all aspects of Design, Global Marketing and Communications, and Visual Creative Services.” This will be the first time anyone has had complete creative control since Calvin Klein himself.

Simons resigned from his previous role as women’s designer at Dior last fall due to the rigorous schedule of shows. Despite the growth of sales, he was left at a creative standstill.  “When you do six shows a year, there’s not enough time for the whole process,” Simons told New York.

At Calvin Klein, Simons will have the ability to be as creative and experimental as possible without the restrictions other brands might have.
