Two Australian field hockey players took a selfie on Thursday that was photobombed by Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth Smiles In Photobomb

Australian women's hockey team players Jayde Taylor and Brooke Peris were warming down after competing against Malaysia at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on Thursday when they decided to take a selfie (above). Posting the picture on Twitter, Taylor wrote, "Ahhh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!! #royalty #sheevensmiled #amazing #Glasgow2014 @Hockeyroos @AusComGames."

Taylor admitted later that she was hoping to catch the Queen in the picture, but had no idea that the British royal saw her – let alone that she would smile at the camera."Brooke [Peris] and I planned it so that when she came out the door she would be behind us. And then she came out and smiled at the camera!" Taylor told ABC News. "We were in the right spot at the right time."

"She asked us a bit about the pitch, how we were going and told us to enjoy our time here," Taylor added. "She was lovely. Really, really lovely.”

In another picture posted by Hockeyroo Anne Flanagan, the Queen is pictured approaching the fence in front of which Taylor and Peris were posing for another camera.

Enjoying the attention their picture with the Queen is getting, Taylor tweeted at Ellen DeGeneres claiming that her selfie might be even more impressive than the one that the comic took with Hollywood A-listers while hosting the Oscars earlier this year.
