While British royal family Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry were front and center for the 2012 Olympic games, living up to their titles as Olympic ambassadors, royal sister-in-law Pippa Middleton, 28, seemed to be taking advantage of a much-needed respite from the limelight. Now that the Olympics are over, Middleton emerged (unescorted by rumored on-again, off-again boyfriend Alex Loudon or any other pursuor) from her brief hiatus for the British premiere of the new Shadow Dancer, starring Clive Owen, Andrea Riseborough, Gillian Anderson, and Aidan Gillen.

Pippa appeared on the carpet wearing a form-fitting black gown with a modest, ivory lace top and black, strappy sandals. Her trademark long locks fell over her shoulders. The Shadow Dancer premiere also marked Pippa's first public appearance since Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld criticized her appearance last month, calling her less attractive than her sister, Kate.

"Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy. I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties," Lagerfeld said, reports the U.K.'s Daily Mail. "On the other hand, her sister struggles. I don't like the sister's face. She should only show her back," he said.

Pippa's new party planning book, Celebrate, is due out in October.
