Perro Aguayo Jr. Dies

Aguayo died as a result of injuries sustained in his match against Rey Mysterio Jr. (WWE superstar Oscar Gutierrez) and Xtreme Tiger. He was fighting alongside Manik. Aguayo went limp on the ropes after weathering a flying kick from Mysterio, according to Sporting News. He was eventually rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.

It is believed that Aguayo died from the effects of whiplash, which caused damage to his trachea. Based on an autopsy, he suffered trauma to the neck and had a cervical fracture, reported CBS News. The state prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into possible manslaughter.

“I have no words for this terrible news,” Joaquin Roldan, director of the AAA wrestling federation, said through Twitter. “My sincerest condolences for the Aguayo Ramirez family.”

Aguayo was the son of the now retired legendary wrestler Pedro “Perro” Aguayo. He had wrestled for 20 years.
