The Endresons, victims of Hurricane Sandy’s tear through New Jersey in 2012, won $20.1 million in the Pick-6 Lotto jackpot.

Sandy Victims Win Pick-6 Lotto

The 17 sons and daughters of Flossie Clark-Endreson have been playing the $1 Pick-6 Lotto since her death in 2004, reported the Star-Ledger. Eleven years later, the large family lottery pool paid off after the siblings purchased a ticket at a Forked River, N.J. 7-11. The siblings, who range in age from 76 to 53 and are still trying to recover from the devastating hurricane., will be splitting the winnings

"It couldn't have come at a better time, it really couldn't," the family's spokesperson Marie McHenry said during a press conference last week. "We're just thrilled that we can help our family members and churches. … Hooray! That's what I say. It's a good thing at a good time."

McHenry’s sister Faith Schibor reiterated her sentiments, revealing that the money will not only help their family but the county they’ve long called home.

“You just can't even imagine the feeling. I think I just went into instant shock," said Schibor. "Everyone's really hurting, and this is going to help everyone. And it's going to help Ocean County, because most of us still live there."

McHenry and Schibor’s brother John Endreson was one of the siblings who was most affected by the devastating storm. Fortunately for him, he was able to get his home back in working order, but the restorations cut deeply into his savings.

"It was quite tough. And believe me when I say this, the hardest part was seeing other people that were devastated," he said. "I was able to redo my house and to help my family, my brothers. I was quite fortunate and I just feel so lucky. And this was just the icing on the cake. I depleted my savings, and now things are looking up pretty good thanks to the state of New Jersey and my mom."

While some of the winnings will undoubtedly go towards helping the siblings’ efforts to recover from Sandy, McHenry admitted that she and her husband will be putting some aside for some seafood. McHenry said, "My husband and I are going to pack two suitcases, throw them into the truck of our car and just drive down the coast to all of the best places to eat fresh seafood.”
