Nick Cannon sparked controversy earlier in the week when he debuted his white face character Connor Smallnut while promoting his forthcoming album White People Party Music.

Nick Cannon In White Face

“It's official… I'm White!!!” Cannon captioned the first picture of him as Connor Smallnut. “#WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!JoinTheParty!!!! #GoodCredit#DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets#FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft "Bro I got drafted!!"

He also posted a video to his Instagram page to introduce his white face character.

Not long after the posts went up, Cannon was met with backlash from those in both the white and black community. He’s been called a “racist” and the less harsh “ignorant” and “hypocritical.” Unfazed, Cannon has continued on with his stunt. In an effort to show he’s not hypocritical, he praised Robert Downey’s blackface in Tropic Thunder and posted a picture of himself in blackface for a comedy skit.

“Funny no one got mad when we did this… “ he wrote next to the Short Circuitz picture. “#ShucknJive #SensitiveMuch”

White People Party Music

Cannon’s White People Party Music is a blend of rap and electronic dance music. Explaining the album title, Cannon said, “You go to a party and white people are having more fun than anybody,” adding to Us Weekly, “They know how to have a good time! I could have named the album Purple People Party Music and you'd still get the same album, but it was just one of those things. You know, you deal with things like race, and people get uptight, so why not?"

White People Party Music, which features collaborations with Akon, Pitbull, Future, Migos, Ryan Bowers and Colette Carr, will be available April 1.
