NeNe Leakes proudly took a bow during her final night performing in Broadway’s Cinderella revival on Saturday.

NeNe Leakes Ends Broadway Run

Leakes joined the cast of Broadway’s Cinderella as the Stepmother back in November, becoming the fourth actress to take on the part in the musical with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. During the curtain call of her final show, Leakes couldn’t help but shed a few tears.

On her blog, Leakes shared some thoughts on her memorable run on the Broadway stage and expressed her thanks for the incredible opportunity.

“I took my final bow Saturday night before a sold out audience. What a bittersweet moment it was! My amazing hubby, children, family, and friends cheered me on and cried tears of joy with me, since they understood my journey and the hard work and tenacity it took for me to get here,” Leakes wrote. “I have found my home! BROADWAY BABY! I made the character my own and gave it all I had every night that I stepped out onto that stage. I worked with a talented cast that showed me generosity and kindness. I will be forever grateful for such an amazing opportunity.”

Leakes added, “You can take what you want, but you can’t take Broadway actress from me. I did that! I am in such a great place in my life right now! Just thinking about it makes me want to shout!”

The Cinderella revival wrapped after 41 previews and 770 regular performances. Sherri Shepherd played the Stepmother before Leakes took over.

Now with her Broadway run behind her, Leakes can fully focus on her return to Fox’s musical comedy-drama Glee. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is set to return to the TV series as Coach Roz Washington and is slated to appear in Glee‘s Jan. 16 episode “Jagged Little Tapestry.”

Glee’s sixth season will premiere with a two-hour special Friday, Jan. 9 on Fox at 8/7c.
