Nastia Liukin is engaged to boyfriend Matt Lombardi and the Olympic champion took to Instagram and Twitter to show off her engagement ring.

Liukin, who won a Gold Medal in gymnastics at the 2008 Olympics and was recently seen competing on Dancing With The Stars, announced her engagement on Monday, June 1. “So this just happened…” Liukin wrote on Twitter, sharing a photo of her beautiful diamond ring.

Liukin, 25, dished about the engagement, revealing that Lombardi proposed in Boston, where he lives and works as founder of VentureUp. “Matt proposed in Boston last night with a beautiful ring he designed himself…. We are both so excited for our future together,” Liukin told E! News.

Lombardi is a Boston College alumnus, and the two have been dating long-distance for some time, as Liukin currently attends New York University. The two had to adjust to being even further apart while Liukin competed on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars in Los Angeles, but they made it work, with Lombardi going out to LA to support his now fiancée.

“Something my dad actually taught me when I was 15 or 16 was you’ll make time for whatever and whoever is important to you. Even before I met him I was like, ‘There’s absolutely no way, I have no time to date!’ But I think when you find someone you love, you make time for them,” Liukin said.

Liukin has not released any other details about her engagement and future wedding, but she appears to have jumped head first into wedding planning and has already named her best friend, Liz Ballard, her maid of honor.
