Julia Roberts’ half-sister, Nancy Motes, was found dead on Sunday in her Los Angeles home of an apparent drug overdose. She was 37.

Nancy Motes Found Dead

When paramedics arrived at Motes’ home Sunday afternoon, they found her on a bathroom floor, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter told CNN. Motes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motes' cause of death is not known as of yet. However, prescription drugs were discovered near her body and it’s known that she long suffered from multiple medical troubles.

"She has a history of some medical issues," Winter said. "Some prescription drugs were found near her body."

Nancy Motes Accuses Julia Roberts Of Bullying

Last summer, Motes gave an interview in which she accused her famous half-sibling with bullying her about her weight throughout her youth. It was that bullying, according to Motes, that led her to undergo weight loss surgery. Down to 155 pounds from 200 pounds, Motes claimed that she and Roberts were working towards a reconciliation.

Roberts supposedly helped Motes get her current job as a production assistant on the set of Fox musical dramedy Glee. Motes had hoped that she would be in attendance at her May 2014 wedding to John Dilbeck. “My family, we love each other absolutely,” Motes told the New York Daily News. I love Julia absolutely, and I have no doubt she loves me.”

Motes' Acting Family

Motes was also a half sibling to actors Eric Roberts and Lisa Roberts Gillan, and an aunt to American Horror Story’s Emma Roberts. Roberts celebrated her 23rd birthday quietly on Monday with her fiancé Evan Peters.

The Roberts-Motes Family released a joint statement on Monday. "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes … confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose," the statement read. "There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."
