Michael Douglas is reportedly taking his role as a father and husband extremely seriously since he and estranged wife Catherine Zeta-Jones announced their separation and has taken to making their two children a nice pancake breakfast every morning.

Douglas, 69, and Zeta-Jones, 44, have been married for almost 13 years and announced their separation in August. Douglas has reportedly moved out of their New York City apartment into a smaller place nearby and he visits his wife and children, Dylan and Carys, at least twice a day.

Michael Douglas Makes Pancakes For The Kids

According to a report by The Mirror, Douglas has taken to making pancakes for the kids every morning and returning in the evening to watch television with them before bedtime in the hopes that Zeta-Jones will see how committed he is to their family.

“Michael would give his right arm for a reconciliation but Catherine’s warned she is not ready to commit and she’s still not ruled out divorce,” a source close to the family said.

However, the source also spilled that Douglas’ pancake-making habits do make Zeta-Jones happy, saying, “Catherine thinks it’s really touching he’s being so hands-on with the kids – and he’s praying it’s the key back into her heart.”

The source added that Zeta-Jones certainly wouldn’t be taking Douglas back too easily as she is still hurt by the comments he made about oral sex leading to his tongue cancer. The source added that this holiday season, Christmas would be a big test for the struggling couple.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas have spent Halloween and Thanksgiving together in an effort to co-parent, and Douglas has been publicly commenting on his hopes of reconciliation. When asked about the state of his marriage at the premiere of his newest film, Last Vegas, Douglas responded, “Things are great… onward and upward.”
