Meg Ryan is the latest star attached to the How I Met Your Mom spinoff How I Met Your Dad.

Meg Ryan Joins 'How I Met Your Dad'

Ryan, who hasn’t appeared in anything for a number of years, has taken the role of the narrator – voicing the future version of Greta Gerwig’s character Sally, reported Entertainment Weekly. In How I Met Your Mother, “future Ted” was voiced by Full House actor Bob Saget over the course of the comedy series’ nine seasons.

Ryan’s last film role was in 2009’s Serious Moonlight. Since then, she’s made appearances on Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy. For the most part, however, Ryan has been taking the time off to focus on raising her adopted daughter Daisy. The actress appears to be eager to get back into the business these days, with a rumored sitcom in the works for NBC and her upcoming directorial effort Ithaca that she’ll star in with Melanie Griffith and Sam Shepard.

How I Met Your Dad will focus on Sally, a woman with a Peter Pan complex, who finds herself divorced in New York City and looking for love again. Krista Rodriguez will play Sally’s best friend Juliet, while Drew Tarver has been tapped to play Sally’s brother-in-law and close friend Todd. Andrew Santino has been cast as Sally’s brother Danny.

How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas penned the pilot episode of How I Met Your Dad, which will be directed by HIMYM alum Pam Fryman.
