Mark Bell, British music producer and star of LFO, died last week due to complications resulting from an operation.

RIP Mark Bell

Bell originated the techno group LFO in 1989, and the group, best known for their rave music, released three albums, Frequencies (1991), Advance (1996) and Sheath (2003). Outside LFO, Bell was a highly regarded producer who worked with Björk and Depeche Mode, among others.

“It’s with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Mark Bell of LFO who died last week from complications after an operation. Mark’s family & friends request privacy at this difficult time,” said LFO’s label, Warp Records, in a statement announcing the news.

Björk remembered Bell on Twitter, sharing a few of their collaborations to her followers on the social networking site.

Björk also shared a photo of the two musicians on her official Facebook message, writing, “I love you Mark and I feel so blessed to have made so much music with you. May your hypersensitive nature blossom fine, and wherever you’re at, hope you’ve got good speakers.”
