A Malaysian bank officer and her husband have been arrested for allegedly stealing more that $30,000 from the bank accounts of four individuals who had been on board the ill-fated Flight MH370 that went missing roughly five months ago.

MH370 Passengers' Bank Accounts Robbed

The couple allegedly stole the money from two Malaysian citizens and two people from China. It's also believed that they transferred some of the money into a bank account of a Pakistani man. The third alleged conspirator has not yet been taken into custody, reported the Daily Mail.

“We are investigating the case as unauthorized access with intent to commit an offence,” Izany Abdul, the Assistant Commission on the investigation told The Mirror. “We are getting CCTV footage from the bank to identify the suspects involved."

Authorities were tipped off to the criminal activity back in July after the HSBC bank branch in Kuala Lumpur that the female suspect worked at noticed discrepancies in the four accounts.

Flight MH370 fell off the radar while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur in March with 239 passengers and crew onboard. Initial search efforts failed to locate the aircraft. A new mission to recover the missing plane will include a deep-water search that will span a 20,000-square mile area in the Indian Ocean.
