Maksim Chmerkovskiy has announced that he won’t be returning as one of the dancing pros on the 19th season of Dancing with the Stars.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Exits 'DWTS'

Chmerkovskiy, 34, admitted that he was once again opting to leave Dancing with the Stars – at least as far as competing is concerned. "I'm done dancing," Chmervoskiy said on The View. "I feel like it's time,” he went on, adding, "I loved the experience."

The last time Chmerkovskiy left Dancing with the Stars, it had been on less than pleasant terms. At the time, Chmerkovskiy had a lot of criticism for ABC’s dancing show and was clearly skeptical upon returning for the 19th season, on which he was paired with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis.

"When I came back to the show, it was not the same,” he admitted. “I was different, probably… When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val [Chmerkovskiy, his brother] included…I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot.”

Chmerkovksiy couldn’t have had a better return season, as he ended up winning the coveted Mirror Ball trophy with Davis after they dominated on the dance floor week after week.

Though Chmerkovskiy has no plans on competing on Dancing with the Stars in the future, it is possible that he’ll return to the show in some capacity – at least according to DWTS executive producer Rob Wade.

"I've just come back to the show, but I was on the show in season one and Maks came on in season two, so I've known Maks for 10 years now and he's a very good friend," Wade said earlier this month. "I'm absolutely hoping Maks comes back to the show. I don't know whether it's going to be as a dancer. I think there's a number of different things we can talk to him about and the way he'd be involved in the show. Maks will always be part of Dancing With the Stars in some way.”
