It was inaccurately reported that WWE legend, Mae Young, 90, had died Thursday, Jan. 9.

Young, who is very ill, was reported dead by The Post and Courier, a Charleston, S.C. paper – the report has since been corrected.

Before the truth was publicized, news of Young’s ‘death’ had already circulated, and many wrestling stars tweeted their condolences to the women’s wrestling trailblazer.

Young is the third woman ever to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and participated in her first fight in 1939, becoming a wrestler at 15-years-old. Her last match was in 2010, making her the only wrestler in history whose career spans nine decades.

Young was put on life support in December and remains hospitalized in Southern Carolina.
