Madonna's Gun-Toting Comes Under Fire

Madonna's Gun-Toting Comes Under Fire

07/24/2012

Madonna, 53, may have gone too far this time. During her performance in Scotland on Saturday, Madonna wielded fake machine guns and pistols on stage, defying a police ban that instructed her otherwise and appalling many who were still in shock from Friday’s Aurora, Colorado shooting at The Dark Knight Rises premiere. "Madonna and her dancers using replica guns was always in bad taste but given what happened in Colorado it is even worse," a representative for Mothers Against Guns told the Saturday Morning Herald.

But Madonna is not one to exercise restraint. She has made a career of pushing buttons, whether by flashing her nipple, placing swastikas on politicians’ faces, or disparaging fellow music icons such as Lady Gaga. "Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art," a member of her tour staff told The Huffington Post. "Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She’s not about to start listening to them now."
