Madonna Stalker Breaks Into Her London Home
After 20-plus years on the music scene, Madonna's mass appeal has not waivered, leading some fans to take things to extremes. Alleged stalker Grzegorz Matlok was arrested on counts of burglary after breaking into the pop star's posh London home Saturday morning, Britain’s The Sun reports. The intruder, a 29-year-old Poland native found holding some of her possessions, was wrestled to the ground by bodyguards inside her Georgian townhouse at 5:30 a.m. Matlok is believed to have smashed and entered the high-security residence through a side window, and bodyguards claimed he has stalked her before. His intrusion also reflects a severe breach of her elaborate security operation. "Something dreadful has happened here. The security around the world's most famous pop star should be impregnable," a senior police officer told The Sun. Matlok, who has no permanent address on record, remains in police custody, with a series of psychiatric reports being conducted today.
Luckily, the family was not at home during the break-in; Madge and her four children were in Bay City, Michigan mourning the death of Madonna’s grandmother Elsie Mae Fortin, who passed away last week. The Material Girl is no stranger to stalkers throughout her career. In September, retired New York City firefighter Robert Linhart was arrested after camping outside of Madonna's New York apartment and scrawling messages of love and adoration with a 7 1/2 inch ice pick. —EMILY EXTON
