LISTEN: Pia Toscano Debuts New Single
Pia Toscano, the glamorous girl from Long Island who was shockingly voted off of American Idol after being an early favorite to win, is back in the spotlight. The singer, who has scored a record deal with Interscope Records according to The Hollywood Reporter, debuted the first single from her upcoming album Monday on American Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. “This Time” has earned mostly positive reviews.
The single was originally slated to be available for purchase today but has been delayed. Fans hoping to buy the track on iTunes can stream the song on Seacrest's web site until it is made available for purchase.
American Idol has been an unpredictable indicator of success, with some contestants, like winners Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks, producing lackluster album sales while others, like Carrie Underwood (who did not win), have shot to pop superstardom. The 22-year-old Toscano has a long road ahead, but she has the chops and the looks to pull it off. With Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records behind her, Toscano seems to be a Carrie Underwood-in-waiting.
