Laurie Hernandez, a member of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team, was the first person to get a perfect score on the 23rd season of Dancing with the Stars Monday night.

DWTS: Laurie Hernandez Perfect Score

Hernandez and her pro partner on Dancing with the Stars, Val Chmerkovskiy, danced a jazz number that was inspired by Cirque Du Soliel’s “Michael Jackson: One” show, which is dedicated to the late entertainer. The gymnast had all eyes on her as she spun around the dance floor in a glittering red dress, as Val and the male dance troupe danced beside her clad all in white.

At the end of the routine, judge Julianne Hough was essentially speechless. Carrie Ann Inaba was effusive. “Normally, doing Michael Jackson is a no-no. Now it’s Michael Jackson who?” Inaba said. “It’s Laurie Hernandez!”

Judge Bruno Tonioli made referenced another Jackson – Janet. According to Tonioli, Laurie “looked like Debbie Allen, Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson combined” as well as “100 percent YOU!”

In the end, Inaba, Tonioli and Hough all gave Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy a 10, making her score a perfect 30.

Coming in second place Monday night with 28 points was James Hinchcliffe, while Terra Jole came in third with 25 points. Maureen McCormick and Amber Rose were tied in fourth at 24 points, and Calvin Johnson, Jana Kramer and Vanilla Ice were tied in fifth with 23. Ryan Lochte, Marilu Henner and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds were in the bottom three with 22, 21 and 16 points a piece.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays on ABC at 8/7c.
