Lamar Odom has been transferred from a Las Vegas hospital to a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, where he’s reportedly taken his first steps since his apparent overdose last week.

Lamar Odom In Rehab Facility

On Monday, Odom was discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and taken via helicopter to a rehab facility in Los Angeles. Odom’s aunt JaNean Mercer and the rest of the Odom family released a statement Tuesday that revealed that the former basketball star is already making progress.

“As Lamar begins a new chapter in his road to recovery, PLEASE continue to uplift him and the family in prayer. He continues to make miraculous progress, taking a few steps in Los Angeles,” the statement read. “We couldn’t be more overjoyed! We realize Lamar’s continued improvement will not be easy, however his unrelenting strength and faith in GOD will pull him through.”

Khloe Kardashian, who legally remains Odom’s wife, also released a statement on Tuesday. In her message, the reality TV star shared her thanks for the support she’s received from friends and family, and for the care Odom received at Sunrise Hospital.

“The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar,” Khloe’s statement read. “I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work. Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made.”

Khloe added, “You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!”

Odom was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel last Tuesday. As a result of a dangerous mix of street drugs, sexual enhancement pills and alcohol, Odom suffered an overdose. It is believed that Odom sustained multiple strokes and organ damage in the aftermath of his drug and alcohol binge. He is still on dialysis due to kidney failure and faces a long road to recovery.
