Lady Gaga Lends Her Voice To The Simpsons
There doesn't seem like much that can wrack Lady Gaga's nerves, but when the singer stopped by The Simpsons headquarters on Monday to record a guest spot on an episode called "Lisa Goes Gaga," she admitted to having some jitters. “I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor,” Gaga told Entertainment Weekly. “That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.”
The episode brings the "Born This Way" artist to Springfield after she learns the town has self-esteem issues. In addition to cheering up Lisa with song and dance, Gaga's animated persona also smooches with Lisa's mom, Marge. “I play a little bit of a slut,” Gaga said. “The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”
The producers of the show have given Gaga's voice-over performance a positive review, noting that she stands out in a particular way from past legendary musical guest stars such as Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson and Gaga's mermaid rival, Bette Midler. “For the first time in the history of The Simpsons, we are honored to have on a show business legend who is younger than our show," exec producer Al Jean said. Gaga is also happy with her work on the episode, which will air in spring 2012 as part of the show's 23rd season.
