Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, who star opposite one another on FX’s critically acclaimed The Americans, are expecting their first child together.

Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys Expecting

Rumors started swirling about Russell’s pregnancy earlier this month. “Keri is more than four months along,” an insider told Us Weekly, with another one adding, “It’s so exciting for them!”

However, it wasn’t until the Winter Television Critics Association press tour over the weekend that the baby news was confirmed. When asked about the speculation that there is a child on the way for Russell, 39, and Rhys, 41, their cast mate Noah Emmerich acknowledged that the two are in fact expecting.

“What pregnancy?” Emmerich joked at first before explaining that shooting around Russell’s pregnancy was’t too difficult.

“First of all, Keri’s really petite. It looks like she swallowed a large pea. But yes, we shoot around it,” he told the press at the event. “She’s always standing behind a huge counter with a toaster on it.”

“No, there’s only a few angles where you can see it,” Emmerich added. “It’s fixable — just picking your shots.”

Executive producer Joel Fields was also asked about whether or not Russell’s pregnancy has affected the storyline on The Americans in any way. Fields replied, “We actually haven’t made any changes based on the happy news, except that we are happy.”

Rhys then chimed in, “And she’s now incredibly effective with a blow dart from a seated position at 12 feet.”

The child will be the third for Russell, who has daughter Willa Lou, 3, and son River, 7, with her ex-husband Shane Deary. This will be the first child for Rhys.
