Justin Bieber was charged for criminal assault in Toronto for allegedly attacking a limousine driver back in December.

Justin Bieber Turns Himself In

At first, it appeared as though a member of Bieber’s entourage – potentially at his behest – struck the limo driver repeatedly. However, the investigation has led authorities to believe that it could have been Bieber himself who waged the attack on the driver, according to TMZ.

Toronto police reportedly first sought to simply question the legally embattled pop singer, but when he didn’t show up, police dug further into the incident. On Wednesday, Bieber turned himself in at the Toronto police station, where he was booked for criminal assault and received a citation before getting released.

Bieber Allegedly Attacked Limo Driver

The incident under investigation occurred on Dec. 30 at 3 a.m. when the limo driver picked up six people outside a nightclub in Toronto, CNN reported. "While driving the group to a hotel, an altercation occurred between one of the passengers and the driver of the limousine," a police statement said. "In the course of the altercation, a man struck the limousine driver on the back of the head several times. The driver stopped the limousine, exited the vehicle and called police."

A spokesperson for Bieber attempted to downplay the 19-year-old’s latest brush with the law, and maintained his innocence in the matter:

"The Toronto Police Service requested that Justin Bieber appear in Toronto today to face an allegation of assault relating to an incident on Dec. 29, 2013," a rep told CNN. "We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States."

"Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent," the rep continued. "As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to address the specifics of either the allegation or of our defense at this time."

Bieber's DUI Arrest, Alleged Egging

Bieber’s first arrest occurred on Jan. 23 in Miami when he was accused of driving under the influence and drag racing with an expired license. Though Bieber blew under the legal limit when he submitted to a Breathalyzer test, he admitted to police at the scene that he was under the influence of marijuana and prescription pills. Bieber is scheduled for an arraignment on Feb. 14.

Bieber may also have to face vandalism charges, which could amount to a felony if the damage caused by his alleged egging of his neighbor's house is proven to be in the thousands. A prosecutor will soon determine if they’ll be levying charges against the "Beauty and a Beat" singer.

For the Toronto incident, Bieber will have to appear in court on March 10.
