John Schneider, best known for starring in the original The Dukes of Hazzard, plans to make his film production debut with a horror comedy film starring masked favorites of horror films past.

Titled Smothered, the feature will be the first project to come out of Schneider’s year-old movie company – John Schneider’s Fairlight Films, which is based in Baton Rouge, La.

"It stars Kane Hodder, who was Jason Vorhees [Friday The 13th], Don Shanks, who was Michael Myers [Halloween 5],” Schneider told BlogTalkRadio.com, before adding that the film also stars, “R.A. Mihailoff, who was Leatherface [Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III], William Moseley, who was Otis from House of A Thousand Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, and Brea Grant, who is from Rob Zombie's Halloween and Dexter.

"I kind of feel like the champion of the disenfranchised because these are all the guys in the mask,” Schneider continued. “None of these guys have ever starred in a movie without a mask or some weird disguise, so this is all those serial killers unveiled in this movie. I have a cameo.”

Schneider also admits that running his own film company had been his lifelong dream – not becoming a movie star. And although his ultimate dream is becoming a reality, he’s still gladly accepting film roles and continuing to make appearances on TV. This year, in addition to guest roles on Hero Factory and Mistresses, Sneider starred as Jim Cryer in The Haves and the Have Nots. He also has a number of films in postproduction, including Runaway Hearts and Road to the Open with Eric Roberts.

Smothered is set for a Dec. 13, 2014 release, which, as Schneider notes, is incidentally a Friday.

Um ok not to be hard or too critical but the author of the article spelled John Schneider's last name wrong and the movie is due out December 13, 2013 not 2014. Just so you know
