Aniston's Marley & Me, costarring Owen Wilson, about a couple and their naughty dog, grossed $14.8 million, the highest one-day total ever for a film opening on Christmas. Pitt's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a film about the life-long romance between a man who ages in reverse and a woman played by Cate Blanchett, came in with a healthy $11.8 million, setting the record for the second-highest Christmas opening of all-time.
