James Middleton, the younger brother of the Duchess of Cambridge, recently admitted that it’s sometimes hard to be in the shadow of sister Kate Middleton.

Who Is James Middleton?

“Yes, it does get frustrating,” Middleton, 27, admitted to The Young Director, referring to coping with his sister’s global fame. “I work incredibly hard—just like every other person in business and work,” he says, “And aside from the fact of — yes, I am the brother of someone very important—I am, at the end of the day, just James.”

Middleton, whose entrepreneurial spirit combined with a struggle with dyslexia led him to leave college early, proudly notes that he’s only ever worked for himself. His first venture, The Cake Kit Company, came about through his experience with his parents’ – Carole and James Middleton‘s – family business Party Pieces.

Recently, Middleton has moved on to a new venture called Boomf, a company that makes and packages marshmallows personalized with Instagram pictures.

“I was experimenting with ways of creating edible objects from digital content and I was working to three criteria,” Middleton explained to Brides magazine about the idea. “1. They had to be delicious 2. They had to be personalized. 3. They had to fit through a letterbox or in a mailbox,” Middleton told the outlet. “After much experiments, Boom! There it was: photo marshmallows.”

As for Middleton’s love life, he’s been dating British TV presenter Donna Air since 2013. “They are very happy, but there’s not been a proposal,” a friend recently told Vanity Fair. “It is serious, and James has taken Donna home to see his parents quite a few times. His mum Carole has really warmed to Donna and thinks she has a great work ethic. They get on very well.”
