Ryan Dunn, the 34-year-old star of Jackass, died in a fatal car crash on Sunday night in Pennsylvania.

According to local police, the accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township, Penn. when Dunn’s 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 flew over a guardrail, slammed into a tree, and burst into flames. Hours later, the car’s charred wreckage was found in a wooded area off the road, and a tow truck was called to the scene to remove it. Dunn was identified by his tattoos, according to eyewitness reports.

While it’s unclear who the driver was, official reports confirm that an unidentified passenger also died in the crash. Police said speed may have been a factor in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing. In the last photo Dunn posted to Twitter, he and two friends are seen drinking what seem to be alcoholic beverages.

April Margera, the mother of Dunn's Jackass co-star Bam, first broke the news to WMMR 93.3's Preston and Steve radio show.“We're deeply saddened by the passing of a member of the MTV family, Ryan Dunn,” MTV tweeted on Monday morning.

Dunn was best known for his parts in all three Jackass movies, where he crashed golf carts and placed a toy car, in a condom, up his rectum.

Born in Ohio, Dunn grew up in New York before moving to West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he met Bam's CKY Crew. He began his career doing crazy stunts and skateboard tricks in a series of online videos, which eventually led to a role on MTV's Jackass in 2000. Dunn also appeared in spin-offs like Viva La Bam and Bam's Unholy Union, as Bam's sidekick and voice of reason.

Dunn's new show, Proving Ground, which he co-hosted with Jessica Choban, tests out action sequences from TV, games and movies. It premiered on G4 last Tuesday. Dunn even took a stab at Hollywood, with projects like the Jessica Simpson-starrer, Blonde Ambition, and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU.
