Early this June, J.K. Simmon‘s trainer Aaron Williams posted an image on Instagram of the 61-year-old actor ripped with muscles, sending the internet into a frenzy.

Every time we train together I forget he’s 61 years old. So much respect for this guy. #JKSimmons #OldManCranking

Many suspected Simmons was preparing for his role as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League.

“This is all coincidental,” Simmons told Business Insider. “I just had free time to go to the gym, so I started training with [Williams].”

“After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life,” he continued.

Simmons joked about all the attention the photo received. “Those were shot at the end of April. I’m huge now!”

In the interview, he assured that his look in the photo is not how he plans to appear in the upcoming film, “I’m not going to mess with something that iconic,” he said.

Justice League: Part One will hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
