George Clooney, Tilda Swinton Named Best By National Board of Review
As Oscar season heats up, many film critics associations will announce their picks for the best of the year. This year, The National Board of Review has named Hugo the best film and its director, Martin Scorsese, the best director. Top acting honors when to George Clooney for his role as a grieving father in The Descendants and Tilda Swinton as an anxious mother in We Need To Talk About Kevin.
Clooney wasn't the only one honored for his work on The Descendants. Newcomer Shailene Woodley, who plays Clooney's daughter in the film, won best supporting actress, and writer/ director Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon and Jim Rash were honored for best adapted screenplay.
NBC's Natalie Morales will host the awards, which will be handed out on January 10 in New York City.

Best Ensemble: The Help
Spotlight Award: Michael Fassbender (A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre, Shame, X-Men: First Class)
NBR Freedom of Expression: Crime After Crime
NBR Freedom of Expression: Pariah
Best Foreign Language Film: A Separation
Best Documentary: Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory
