Emma Stone is in early negotiations to play Cruella de Vil in a live-action prequel of 101 Dalmatians.

Emma Stone As Cruella

Stone and Disney are reportedly in talks about the 101 Dalmatians project, which already has Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey) onboard to write the screenplay, according to Entertainment Weekly. While Disney has yet to name a director, Andrew Gunn (Freaky Friday) is attached to produce.

The forthcoming 101 Dalmatians film will not be the first live-action movie inspired by the animated picture. Back in 1996, thirty-five years after the release of the original, Disney put out the remake. In that version, Cruella de Vil was played by Glen Close. Jeff Daniels, Joely Richardson and Hugh Laurie were also in the movie.

As of yet, no casting is confirmed for the 101 Dalmatians prequel

In the meantime, Stone has a number of other projects in different stages of production. The Spider-Man actress recently wrapped filming musical dramedy La La Land with her Crazy Stupid Love costar Ryan Gosling.

Stone, who made her Broadway debut in Cabaret earlier this year, will soon start filming the  Billie Jean King biopic Battle of the Sexes, in which she stars in the title role. She’ll also soon get to work on British period drama The Favourite and animated movie The Croods 2.
