Just like her 30 Rock character Avery Jessup, Elizabeth Banks is now a new mom.

Banks and husband Max Handelman welcomed their first child, a son Felix via surrogate, on Wednesday. Banks, 37, took to her personal blog to explain the couple's decision to go with surrogacy. “The one true hurdle I've faced in life is that I have a broken belly. After years of trying to get pregnant, exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a 'baby cake' and bake it in another woman's 'oven,'” she wrote.

While she’ll have her hands full with diapers and baby food for the immediate future, the actress can next be seen in Man on a Ledge with Sam Worthington, Ed Harris and Kyra Sedgwick, in theaters next year. —EMILY EXTON
