Drake has postponed the last three tour dates on his Summer Sixteen tour on doctor’s orders.

DRAKE POSTPONES REMAINDER OF SUMMER SIXTEEN TOUR

The rapper injured one of his ankles while on tour and, while deciding to perform through the pain, he actually made his injury worse. Now his doctor has ordered him to postpone his concerts to allow time for the ankle to heal.

Drake’s team issued a statement. “Drake suffered a severe ankle injury during the tour which he did his best to power through. By doing this, he made his injury worse. Under doctors orders and to ensure Drake only ever gives fans the performances they deserve, he will be postponing the remaining 3 dates of his Summer Sixteen tour to allow him time to recuperate his ankle injury. Drake’s fans mean the world to him. Seeing their faces and performing his music for them is what he loves to do the most and he can’t wait to get back on stage.”

Drake also spoke on his ailment. “We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,” the singer began. “I hate to be told I can’t do something, but [I am] under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate. I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support. I promise – I will make it up to you. I can’t wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle.”

He had three tour dates left on his summer tour before this break. Drake also announced a new world tour, the Boy Meets World Tour, which will begin in Amsterdam on Jan. 21, 2017, and finish up on March 16 in Cologne.

In the meantime, Drake has received 13 nominations for the 2016 American Music Awards in November. This is the most nominations in AMA history in one season, topping Michael Jackson’s previous record of 11.
