Victoria Beckham and husband David Beckham welcomed their first daughter at 7:55 a.m. PST Sunday by pre-arranged C-section at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

David, 36, announced the name of their new baby daughter, who weighed a healthy 7 lb 10 oz, a few hours after wife Victoria, 37, gave birth. “I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx.”

Harper Seven is the couple's first daughter. They already have three sons: Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6.

There was an outpouring of congratulations from friends of the Beckhams. A visibly ecstatic Mel B, who herself is expecting a third child later this year, tweeted: “congrats!!! Yipeee another spice baby is born, damn it wish it was me this AM cos I feel like I'm about to POP!” Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton also tweeted: "Big kiss to @victoriabeckham can't wait to meet your gorgeous little girl!" While there’s no word on who the baby’s godparents will be, speculation is rife that it could either be Gordon Ramsay or even Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

While the couple hasn’t explained their unusual name choice, including the number “seven” in it could be an homage to David's first soccer jersey number when he played for Manchester United and England. He gave up the number seven jersey when he moved to Spain's Real Madrid because team captain, Raúl González, had already claimed it.

But perhaps it’s a good thing the Beckhams decided on “Harper Seven,” rather than taking the advice of the baby’s brothers, who tossed out names like “Justine Bieber Beckham.”

The Beckhams, who have been married since 1999, moved to Los Angeles in 2007.

Any Seinfeld fans out there will understand why the fact that they give their baby the middle name Seven makes me laugh…
