Columbus Short, who is best known for playing Harrison Wright on Scandal, has failed a drug test while on probation for a felony assault charge.

Columbus Short Fails Drug Test

Short recently tested positive for cocaine and marijuana use in a drug test during his probation, reported People magazine. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge, hearing about the test results Tuesday, has scheduled a court date for Short for May 9.

Short is now facing a probation violation in his felony assault case. Back in September of last year, Short pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to three years of supervised probation in addition to two months of community labor and anger management counseling. Thus far, Short has completed his anger management counseling, but has yet to finish his community labor.

The aforementioned assault charge stemmed from an incident in March 2014, in which he knocked a man unconscious with a running punch, leaving him with a fractured eye socket and a concussion.

In response to the alleged probation violation news, Short’s attorney Ludlow B. Creary II said that he hopes that the actor will “complete his probation, and get on with his career.”

Incidentally, Short has spoken publicly in the past about his abuse of drugs and alcohol, and how it led to his departure from Scandal and other career setbacks.
