Chris Brown crashed his Porsche into a wall while trying to escape paparazzi on Saturday – the night before the 55th Grammys.

Brown was on his way to a charity event in Los Angeles when multiple paparazzi vehicles cut him off and continued to pursue him. ”The occupants jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his vehicle,” Brown’s representative said in a statement. “In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley, at which point he was cut off by two additional vehicles. Chris’ vehicle was totaled due to this aggressive pursuit by the paparazzi. He is okay.”

The Beverly Hills Police Department also released a statement on the incident, corroborating the statement made by Brown’s representative. It stated that the R&B artist was in “a solo, non-injury traffic collision” and “collided with a wall.” Furthermore, the statement read, “Brown stated that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle.”

The eve of the Grammy’s caused Brown even more trouble four years ago, when he assaulted girlfriend Rihanna. While the pair split soon after the incident and resulting trial, they’ve since gotten back together. Rihanna was spotted last week supporting Brown in a courtroom gallery as he faced allegations that he has not completed the community service sentence given to him after pleading guilty to felony assault. During the Grammy ceremony last night, the on-again couple was seen looking quite happy together while sitting beside one another in the audience.
