Charlie Sheen was rushed to the hospital Monday due to a bout of food poisoning, which was reportedly brought on by bad clams.

Charlie Sheen Hospitalized: Blames Food Poisoning

It was reported earlier this week that Sheen had a severe case of food poisoning that sent him to a Los Angeles emergency room, though it was unknown what caused the illness. On Tuesday, Sheen’s publicist Jeff Ballard cleared up any confusion.

“It was clams, bad clams. Nothing too exciting,” Ballard told People magazine.

The bad clams that the former Two and a Half Men star ate were part of a seafood pasta dish that he’d had delivered to his home. Within hours of eating the dinner, Sheen was feeling unwell.

“Just to be on the safe side, he went to the hospital,” said Ballard. “They checked him out, hydrated him and sent him on his way. He was back home in bed 90 minutes later.”

After leaving Two and a Half Men, Sheen returned to TV in Anger Management, which ran from 2012-2014. He last appeared on the small screen in an episode of The Goldbergs earlier this year.
