Everyone has been buzzing about the suprise summer hit, Magic Mike, since its bevy of hunky boys — Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer — bared it for the cameras in the Steven Soderberg film loosely based on Tatum's stripping past, and now the stars of the film are putting in their two cents about a sequel … or something like it.

"We're actually talking about the possibility of doing the prequel," Manganiello told Hollywood.com earlier this year. "Because if you want to do the sequel, then you lose Mike [Tatum]. Otherwise, what's Mike going to do? He's going to come back for one big heist … so you would do the prequel — how they got there."

Costar Cody Horn, who played Tatum-as-Mike's love interest in Magic Mike and next appears in the highly anticipated End of Watch alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez, also agrees that the project should happen, and that Tatum should helm it. "Channing has clearly proven he can do anything he wants," she said, reports E! Online. "He was a producer [on Magic Mike], so in terms of leading the set, he could do it. He creates and sets the tone every day and he did an amazing job. It was a fun and peaceful and professional and open place to work."

Even Tatum himself has addressed the matter. "Yes, yes and yes!" Tatum tweeted in a Glamour interview over the summer about the possibility of a second Magic Mike installment. "We're working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger." So, yes, directing appears to be on the table for Tatum.

And "we" includes Tatum's Magic Mike producing partner Reid Carolin, with whom he hopes to direct the new flick. "It's too good of a movie, and the characters are so crazy, that we want to go for it," Tatum told Vulture. "We feel like we did the little indie version this last time, and for the next one, we want to up the stakes a little, maybe go even farther."

However, Magic Mike fans might have to wait awhile until Tatum has some other directing credits under his belt. "Reid and I aren't idiots!" Tatum told the mag. "We're not going to direct our first movie as a sequel to a Steven Soderbergh movie. That's not smart."
