Bill Clinton sat down with Jon Stewart Wednesday night to discuss his thoughts on Donald Trump’s presidential bid, and he had surprising words.

Bill Clinton On Donald Trump’s Presidential Bid

The 2016 presidential race is ramping up, and Trump is the newest candidate to throw his hat in the ring. “So I know you have been a Hillary Clinton supporter for quite some time now,” Stewart quipped to Clinton. “Does Donald Trump’s entry into the race in any way complicate that or change the way the you’re viewing your vote?,” Stewart then asked. Clinton responded, “It was vintage Trump—he has been uncommonly nice to Hillary and me, he thought Hillary was a good Senator for New York after 9/11… and he is one of the many Republicans that supported our foundation before they got the memo.”

To which, Stewart responded, “But isn’t he less a Republican and more of a ‘Trumpacrat?’” The audience – along with Clinton – exploded with laughter. “I don’t really think he cares as long as he can put his name on the White House – give it a nice gold paving… class it up,” Stewart explained.

The interview soon took a more serious turn as Clinton and Stewart went on to discuss America’s economy, trade agreements and the outsourcing of jobs. But they did leave us on a funny note. “You know Churchill once said… the American people – the United States of America – always does the right thing…after exhausting every other alternative.”
