The Bachelor had a different look from the get go in Chris Soules’ third week searching for a wife, with late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel stepping in alongside Chris Harrison as the host.

The Bachelor Recap

Kimmel’s first steps as co-host were to wake up a sound asleep Chris Soules, introduce himself to the “sister wives” in the house and implement an “amazing jar” for people to pay up every time they say the oft-use Bachelor adjective. He also hands over the first one-on-one date card, which went to Kaitlyn. Planned by Jimmy, the date takes the duo to Costco.

Neither Chris nor Kaitlyn seem particularly enthusiastic about the date, but gamely set about picking up the things that Kimmel had put on their shopping list – which included enough ketchup to fill up a hot tub. In the end, though, they made the best of the date and even shared a kiss inside an inflatable ball. When they got back to the Bachelor Mansion for dinner, they both agreed that it was good to spend time with each other in a normal couple activity. When Kimmel shows up, he makes a point of asking some uncomfortable questions, but that doesn’t keep Chris from giving Kaitlyn the date rose.

For the group date, Britt, Jillian, Becca, Tracy, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Amber, Ashley S., Juelia, Samantha, Nikki and Carly all head to a farm. In what Kimmel calls a Hoedown Throwdown, the girls have to shuck corn, crack eggs, milk goats, shovel manure and wrestle greased pigs. Fitness buff Jillian is a clear front-runner due to the physicality of the tasks, though Carly battles her allergies and ends up the winner.  With some alone time with Chris, she kisses him. Then Chris kisses Amber, and the Jillian. Mackenzie, who got Chris’ first kiss, decides to confront him about kissing so many of the women. One person Mackenzie doesn’t have to worry about Chris kissing just yet is Becca, who turns him down. Chris, in turn, gives Becca the group date rose.

Chris’s second one-on-one date is with Whitney at a winery. They two eat and drink and Whitney tells Chris that she can make friends with virtually anyone, anywhere. Looking to prove her impressive sociability, she encourages him to crash a nearby wedding with her. The producers decided to keep their distance, but keep the mics on Chris and Whitney. During the wedding-crashing, the two chat up the wedding party and dance the night away.  Unfortunately for Whitney, she fails to catch the bouquet, though she does get the date rose.

Instead of a cocktail hour, Jimmy Kimmel announces that they will be having a pool party this week instead – and that Chris will be at the mansion within the hour. Many of the girls are in a panic, worried that they won’t be able to get their hair and makeup done on time, but agree that it’ll be another good chance to spend some time with the Bachelor.

As the pool party commences, Juelia gets Chris  off to the side and opens about her her husband, who committed suicide. Chris holds her and comforts her as she cries. She apologizes for crying and getting emotional, but Chris tells her he’s happy she shared with him. Then, he has a series of other one-on-one’s with a lot less talking and a lot more kissing. Jade even manages to get Chris into bed for her make out session. Ashley I., annoyed that she’s not getting much attention, stages a meltdown and gets her kiss – though her over-zealousness almost causes her to fall off the balcony and take Chris with her.

At the rose ceremony, Chris gives roses to Jade, Samantha, Juelia, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Britt, Megan, Carly, Ashley S., Nikki, Jillian, and Ashley I. Amber, Tracy and Trina are all sent home.
