The latest Austin Mahone news is that the singer is healing well since his release from the hospital a few weeks ago after suffering from a blood clot in his throat, causing him to postpone his tour.

“I feel a lot better… I’m still trying to get to 100 percent, but I’m taking it one step at a time,” Mahone told People.

The health scare came mid-October when Mahone was rushed to the hospital and immediately put on bed rest. Mahone, 17, was ordered by doctors to take a break and follow a regimen of antibiotics for treatment.

“The doctor said whenever I do a lot of traveling I don’t get much rest. I’m waking up at 3 a.m., then going all day, then not going to sleep until 12. He said I need a lot more rest, and I just need a break,” Mahone told People about his recovery.

When he emerged, the teen heartthrob took to Twitter to assure his fans that he was all right, tweeting on Oct. 20, “I’m Alive.”

Mahone’s mandatory rest forced him to postpone his first headlining tour, MTV’s Artist to Watch Presents tour, and he temporarily lost his singing voice.

“I would say two days before I started feeling a little bump in my throat. Every time I swallowed it would be scratchy, it would hurt and I had the chills… it made my throat hurt so bad, for three days straight I wasn’t even eating solid food,” Mahone says.

Luckily, Mahone is now almost completely back to his old self. His singing voice has returned, and, on Oct. 25, he announced that his tour would be delayed, not canceled.

Mahone’s tour will now begin in early 2014, and he is more than prepared. Mahone revealed to People that he spent his time on bed rest watching YouTube videos of performers he admires to improve his tour.

“I spent most of my time in my room. I watched YouTube videos of people I look up to, so next time I do a show, I can do better and be better.”

The young star, deemed by many as the next Justin Bieber, is also getting ready to release a new single “Banga! Banga!” on Nov. 10, and will return to the stage for the first time in Dallas at KISS-FM’s Jingle Ball on Dec. 2.
