'Arrested Development' Movie In The Works
Fans of Arrested Development, get ready to celebrate. Days after actor Peter Serafinowicz said Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz was writing the long-awaited film, Hurwitz has confirmed the rumors, and hopes to release the film within the year.
Apart from that, however, Hurwitz and the rest of the cast from the sitcom, who will also star in the film, have been tightlipped about the production; given the fans' emotional commitment to the project, they don’t want to disappoint. “I don't like to toy with the affections of our fans,” Hurwitz told Digital Spy. “They've been so supportive and we're so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the question until I can say, 'Yep, we've shot it, it opens next week'… It has just taken a while to get it going.”
Hurwitz’s caution seems justified. In February 2009, it was reported that Michael Cera was a roadblock to the movie, but a month later, all issues seemed to have been resolved. Yet in June 2010, star David Cross said the film wasn't happening. But now, everyone associated with the project seems cautiously optimistic.
Hurwitz’s confirmation was echoed by Jeffrey Tambor, a.k.a. George Bluth. “It’s all going straight, everyone's on board, I know they're writing, and maybe next time this year we'll be having this conversation,” he told The Huffington Post, while promoting his new movie, Lucky, with Colin Hanks.
That means the Bluth family: Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, Tony Hale and Tambor will return for the first time since their show’s heavily-protested cancelation by Fox in 2006 after a mere two-and-a-half seasons. A show whose critical acclaim and fan base weren’t appreciated by Fox, Arrested Development went on to massive DVD sales and has inspired a robust internet campaign for a revival.

I loved Arrested Development. It was so ridiculously funny, unlike so many other shows at the time. I hope this movie doesn't disappoint fans like me :)

Except for making loads of money at the box office, movies based on TV shows never turn out that great. The Sex and the City movies were awful (especially the sequel) and the Entourage movie, which is apparently will come out after the last season, will likely be so-so. Shows end or get cancelled for a reason.
